A collection of works from the solo show ‘Hiraeth, Embellished Stories’ first shown in Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre, Cwmbran 2 Dec 2017- 20 Jan 2018
The concept of ‘hiraeth’ resonates in all of my work, as a Welsh word meaning ‘a deep longing for home’. Through embroidery, I aim to capture my own ‘hiraeth’, for my Welsh roots, past relationships, and the lost places of my past. Inspired by the history and symbolism of medieval tapestries, I create whimsical narratives from collected memories, myths and poetry, mapping our my own personal histories in cloth.
